Shella Royal House is located on a hill and has probably the best location of all in Shella. Facing the Indian Ocean, the view from the Royal House is breath-taking. This small hotel is only minutes away from the excellent, 14 km long white sandy beach of Shella.
Shella Royal House offers accommodation on bed & breakfast and on half board basis.
The house, which is actually two buildings, is built in traditional style with carved entrance doors
with
delicate ornament. The two houses of Shella Royal House are bright white.
One of the them is a four storey building and the other three storey
building with the ground floor of coral and a small indoor garden. In
total there are 13 rooms, all en suite rooms and tastefully furnished
in local Swahili style.
Every room has fans and mosquito net and on every floor you will find a terrace with a stunning view, dining room and a fridge with cool drinks as well as alcoholic beverages to make your stay comfortable.
Shella Royal House Lamu has well trained staff including a permanent gourmet cook who specialises in Swahili food and a wide variety of excellent, fresh seafood dishes including lobster, crabs, prawns and many different sea fish. At any time guests can choose to dine on the open air, rooftop terrace with the best views of Shella and with the local sounds from the village all around. Advance booking highly recommended.

Children below 12 years sharing parents room are charged at 50% of above rates. Children below 12 years staying in their own room pay 75% of above rates.
Supplement during Easter (5th - 10th April 2012), Xmas (24th, 25th, 26th & 31st Dec 2012) and New Year's day (1st Jan 2013) will apply.
Rates subject to change without notice. However, rooms booked with a deposit or paid for in full will not be subject to any changes in rates.
A deposit of 50% towards your total bill for your stay at Shella Royal House Lamu is payable to tentatively confirm your accommodation. Your 50% deposit is payable either via Electronic Bank Fund Transfer (SWIFT EFT) or through the Western Union / Safaricom International Mobile Money Transfer service for overseas clients by using your credit card. If you reside or are already in Kenya, you can make your payment via Safaricom M-Pesa or direct bank deposit, details available upon request.
The balance of 50% is payable 14 days prior to your check-in date. If booking is made with less than 14 days to date of check-in, then full payment is applicable to confirm your booking.
However, the above accommodation booking criteria will not apply for clients checking in as from 10th December 2012 to 7th January 2013 when full payment is required prior to confirmation of your accommodation.
Upon receipt of your initial deposit, we will send you a Tentative Booking Confirmation Voucher, as an email attachment, which will also acknowldge receipt of your deposit and will show your check-in / check-out dates and room type booked. Upon receipt of your balance, we will send you a Booking Confirmation Voucher, as an e-mail attachment, and which you will present at the Shella Royal House Lamu Shella reception desk upon arrival.
