Located on the island of Lamu, along Kenya's coast, you will find Jannat House.
The house dates back from the 18th century and was originally built as a merchant´s house, although today it has modern style upper floors.
Jannat House has 17 rooms, 5 terraces, an 'a la carte' restaurant and a small salt-water pool in an interior courtyard with a bar. Rooms are tastefully furnished with African an Arabic antiques.
It is built in original Swahili style with typical furniture's and situated in the old town of Lamu. Beaches are not far away. The hotel has no air-condition as the soothing wind from the Indian ocean is quite effective.
There is cold and warm water but no TV or telephones in the rooms, which contributes to the calm environment. Safe is available free in the office. Jannat House has 17 rooms and 35 beds mostly double rooms. It has a dining room, swimming pool, bar and five terraces some with an astonishing sea view.
The chef cooks the most delicious dishes including Lamu seafood specialties such as fish, crab, shrimps and lobster.
While staying at Jannat House you will experience days of calm, rest and meditation while having the opportunity to discover the history, culture and surroundings of Lamu. Advance booking highly recommended.
We provide Lamu Boat transfer service from the Manda airstrip Jetty or Mokowe Jetty across the sea to Jannat House located in Lamu Shella Village on Lamu Island. Children below 12 years sharing parents room are charged at 50% of above rates. Children below 12 years staying in their own room pay 75% of above rates.
Supplement during Easter (5th - 10th April 2012), Xmas (24th, 25th, 26th & 31st Dec 2012) and New Year's day (1st Jan 2013) will apply.
Rates subject to change without notice. However, rooms booked with a deposit or paid for in full will not be subject to any changes in rates.
A deposit of 50% towards your total bill for your stay at Jannat House Lamu is payable to tentatively confirm your accommodation. Your 50% deposit is payable either via Electronic Bank Fund Transfer (SWIFT EFT) or through the Western Union / Safaricom International Mobile Money Transfer service for overseas clients by using your credit card. If you reside or are already in Kenya, you can make your payment via Safaricom M-Pesa or direct bank deposit, details available upon request.
The balance of 50% is payable 14 days prior to your check-in date. If booking is made with less than 14 days to date of check-in, then full payment is applicable to confirm your booking.
However, the above accommodation booking criteria will not apply for clients checking in as from 10th December 2012 to 7th January 2013 when full payment is required prior to confirmation of your accommodation.
Upon receipt of your initial deposit, we will send you a Tentative Booking Confirmation Voucher, as an email attachment, which will also acknowldge receipt of your deposit and will show your check-in / check-out dates and room type booked. Upon receipt of your balance, we will send you a Booking Confirmation Voucher, as an e-mail attachment, and which you will present at the Jannat House Lamu Shella reception desk upon arrival.
