Amu House is located in Lamu Town on Lamu Island on the northern coast of Kenya. It is one of the most popular budget bed & breakfast accommodation base for travellers coming to Lamu. The rooms are spacious with basic and functional furniture.
Amu House has 7 self contained rooms with some having private balconies. All rooms are equipped with mosquito nets and fans. Amu House is an original swahili house and still retains some antique furniture. It is basically a bed and breakfast guest house but lunches and dinners can be pre-arranged with the chef.
Of all the refurbished Swahili hotels, this beautifully restored 16th-century house has had perhaps the greatest attention to detail paid to it. The original woodwork and plaster have been lovingly brought out, with local antiques completing the look.

Children below 12 years sharing parents room are charged at 50% of above rates. Children below 12 years staying in their own room pay 75% of above rates.
Supplement during Easter (5th - 10th April 2012), Xmas (24th, 25th, 26th & 31st Dec 2012) and New Year's day (1st Jan 2013) will apply.
Rates subject to change without notice. However, rooms booked with a deposit or paid for in full will not be subject to any changes in rates.
A deposit of 50% towards your total bill for your stay at Amu House Lamu is payable to tentatively confirm your accommodation. Your 50% deposit is payable either via Electronic Bank Fund Transfer (SWIFT EFT) or through the Western Union / Safaricom International Mobile Money Transfer service for overseas clients by using your credit card. If you reside or are already in Kenya, you can make your payment via Safaricom M-Pesa or direct bank deposit, details available upon request.
The balance of 50% is payable 14 days prior to your check-in date. If booking is made with less than 14 days to date of check-in, then full payment is applicable to confirm your booking.
However, the above accommodation booking criteria will not apply for clients checking in as from 10th December 2012 to 7th January 2013 when full payment is required prior to confirmation of your accommodation.
Upon receipt of your initial deposit, we will send you a Tentative Booking Confirmation Voucher, as an email attachment, which will also acknowldge receipt of your deposit and will show your check-in / check-out dates and room type booked. Upon receipt of your balance, we will send you a Booking Confirmation Voucher, as an e-mail attachment, and which you will present at the Amu House Lamu reception desk upon arrival.
